During a meeting in September, the Kazickas Family decided to continue the Alexandra Kazickas Grant Program for the fifth year in a row. Alexandra Kazickas was deeply committed to the preservation of a Lithuanian identity for young people growing up in the US.
Program was established in 2012 to support Lithuanian Heritage Schools in US which provide students with multiple ways of learning through educational and enrichment experiences and opportunities.
Since 2012 A. Kazickas Grant Program donated 465 000 USD to the Lithuanian Heritage Schools in US (excluding a total of 260 000 USD in KFF grants over ten years to the Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School, Est. 2006).
With the program KFF seeks to support and encourage teachers' productive work, participation at the continuous education conferences, sharing of knowledge and experiences. One of the goals is to have the Lithuanian language proficiency assessments conducted by globally accredited institutions in the Heritage language schools which would result in awarding of internationally recognized Lithuanian language proficiency certificates. Students spend numerous hours over the years learning Lithuanian language, culture and traditions, giving up investment in other activities. KFF seeks a stronger impact of the education at the Lithuanian schools on students future.
