Work with the Hospitals

Foundation works closely with the Vilnius Santaros Children Hospital and Kaunas Clinics Pediatric Oncology Centers , as well as Pediatric Rehabilition Center "Saulute" in Druskininkai – provides necessary equipment, organizes and finances staff trainings.

Financial Help

Covers medication cost, lab fees, finances children's treatment outside of the country, buys necessary supplies (band-aids, diapers, wet napkins, shampoo, oils, etc.).

Parent and Child Support at the Hospitals

Organizes therapeutical creative workshops for children fighting cancer and their parents at the hospitals, put together holiday celebrations, meetings, special luncheons; fulfill children's dreams; help parents and guardians to find the right specialists, get access the latest information on treatments, rehabs, therapies and so.

Changing the Public Opinion

"Mothers' Union" promotes tolerance and acceptance of the children and their families fighting cancer, encourages the public to reach out and help the one in need, spreads the awareness.

New "Mothers' Union" project - "Family Home" - rehabilition and information center for ill children and their families. Treatment of certain pediatric illnesses is usually long, might take up to two years. During this time, only one of the parents is able to stay with a child at the hospital, there are no possibilities for other family members to stay close. Special home outside of a hospital helps with such issue. "Mothers' Union Family Home" doesn't intend to replace or duplicate treatments provided at hospitals. It is a social alternative providing an opportunity to spend more time together as a family.

According to the president of "Mothers' Union" Egle Melinauskiene, "everything starts with the values, love and enormous desire. That desire to help turned into an idea of "Family Home". Sometimes someone calls it crazy. I admit, such project for a NGO is a huge challenge and can only be accomplished with a help of private donations. Today, as finishing touches are being applied, we'd like to thank „Chicago Mothers Foundation”, the Lithaunians in Ireland, England and many other Lithuanian communities around the Globe, the Kazickas Family Foundation, Lithuanian Energy Foundation, McDonald‘s in Lithuania. We long and hope that families have the easiest possible treatment experience and that they recover quickly after such a challenge. We invite all to contribute and help the children."

"Family Home" plans to open its doors in 2020.

The Kazickas Family Foundation gave $50,000 to the "Family Home" project.
