Alexandra Kalvenas Kazickas

In Memoriam

Alexandra Kazickas died peacefully at home in East Hampton, surrounded by her husband and children, on June 17,2011, her 91st birthday. She was the devoted wife of Joseph for 70 happy years, loving mother of Jurate, Joseph, Michael, John and Alex, who predeceased her, and the grandmother of eleven children. She was joyful, spirited, devout, and a great friend to the many people who cherished her. Born in Lithuania, she and Joseph escaped communism to find a wonderful life of freedom in America but she never lost her love for her homeland. In her memory for her commitment to the preservation of a Lithuanian identity for young people growing up in the U.S. the children established the Alexandra Kazickas Grant Program (AKGP). It supports Lithuanian Heritage schools throughout the United States and commemorates Alexandra's generosity since 2006 when the first heritage school on Long Island, NY was founded and named Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School (AKLS).

Please explore these websites to learn more about Alexandra and the way her memory is honored by AKLS and AKGP.
