M. Mazvydas Library - A. Damusis Democracy Studies Center

Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania is a national cultural institution open to all users, active in the areas of dissemination of information, culture, science and education, performing library activities and ensuring implementation of the national information policy falling within its competence. After a lenghty reconstruction, it reopened its doors to the public in 2016 with a new slogan 'The reader is changing THE LIBRARY is open not only to the reader'. The National Library is now more open and offers 400 individual workstations and innovative spaces for non-traditional projects, communication, and creation.

Adolfas Damusis Democarcy Studies Center (ADDSC) is a specialized structural part of a Documented Heritage Research Department at the Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania. It does research on the 20th century modern political democarcy ideas and historical heritage of Lithuania. Center's mission is to promote the research on the 20th century democracy ideas and the resistence movement work of many activists, such as Joseph Kazickas and Adolfas Damusis.

The Kazickas Family Foundation works closely with the National M. Mazvydas Library and Adolfas Damusis Democracy Studies Center. Library's director prof. dr. R. Gudauskas mentioned that it is a privilege and a commitment to work with the Kazickas Family Foundation. "Synergy of efforts put in together give results that we all can be proud of. Working with the Kazickas Family Foundation raises expectations quite high and quality becomes a necessity for all National library events. I believe in the importance and significance of our partnership," shared library's director.

In 2018 Lithuania marked anniversaries of three distinguished individuals, three scholars, three good friends and companions, persistent Lithuanian freedom case defenders and fighters. Dr. Adolfas Damusis – 110, dr. Jospeh Peter Kazickas – 100 and dr. Kazys Ambrozaitis – 100. To honor these extraordinary people and their work Martynas Mazvydas National Library of Lithuania presented a series of special events. Program included documentary film screenings, exhibits, conference, lectures and meetings.

During the dr. Joseph P. Kazickas' 100th anniversary traveling exhibit openings, A. Damusis Democracy Studies Center's director Vidmantas Valiusaitis presents the theme "Joseph Kazickas and Lithuania's Freedom Case" to the guests where he covers main aspects of Dr. J. P. Kazickas' life and his dedication to Lithuania.

Every year Adolfas Damusis Democracy Studies Center presents a conference - Political Studies Days.

On June 14-15th, 2019 center is inviting to its annual conference "Europe's Conscience and Totalitarianism: Lithuanian Society's Historical Experience 20th Century".
