On May 18th twenty nine Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School students ended their school year. This year school had two graduates, Adriana Zukas and Simona Vadeikaite. During the end of year ceremony students, teachers, parents and friends celebrated school's accomplishments.
School's students, teachers, parents and friends celebrated the class of 2019, Adriana and Simona. At the age of 3, Adriana joined school in 2006, the very first year school opened. Simona joined school right after her 3rd birthday as well in 2007. School's teachers had an honor to watch those two little girls grow into beautiful young ladies and they have no doubt they will go far in their lives.
School's teachers were excited to share students' progress and accomplishments. This year they tested their skills in Lithuanian dictation together with the Lithuanians all over the world, participated in drawing and writing contests organized by the Lithuanian Educational Council of USA. School's student Victoria Korsakas was the 3rd in her age group with her drawing based on Tumas Vaizgantas story. Victoria also got an encouragement prize for her essay "Why is Lithuanian Language Important To You?" and school's older student Nicholas Devoe won the prize for his essay "What Connects Global Lithuanians?"
Rasa Mitruleviciene, president of the Eastern Long Island Lithuanian Community, congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to continue fostering Lithuanian language and culture in their communities. School's initiator and Kazickas Family Foundation's NY office director Neila Baumiliene shared kind regards from the Kazickas family and Lithuanian Consul General in New York, Gitana Skripkaite. School's previous graduates Greta, Lukas and Vesta came to congratulate their old friends and Kestutis Jankunas who's daughter Smilte graduated in 2016, as always paid a visit to sing school's song together with the students. He is also the author of such special song that appears to become an integral part of school's celebrations.
After proudly sharing their accomplishments and celebrating the graduates, everyone was in for a treat - musical part of the event. School's student Gabija's grandfather, Zenonas Petravicius, entertained the guests with the Lithuanian accordion music that made everyone feel like in Lithuania for a little while.
School's family says huge THANK YOU to all for another wonderful year at the Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School. Thank You, students, for your energy and laughter, Thank You, teachers, for your inspiration and creativity, Thank You, parents, for your love and dedication, Thank You, friends, for you care and support!
Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School, founded in 2006, continues Alexandra Kazickas' legacy. It teaches Lithuanian diaspora youth Lithuanian language, culture and traditions, seeks to foster love for Lithuania. School laid foundation for the Alexandra Kazickas Grant Program at the Kazickas Family Foundation. It's been supporting Lithuanian schools in the USA since 2012. The Kazickas Family Foundation continues to be school's main supporter. Lithuanian Foundation, Lithuanian Educational Council of USA and local Long Island community also contribute a lot to school's successful work.
