While conducting AKGP for the Lithuanian Heritage schools of the US, KFF Vilnius Bureau organized a meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
Main focus of the conversation was a need of Lithuanian language proficiency assesement system in order for the students of the Lithuanian Heritage schools to receive Lithuanian language credits. A possibility of a cooperation between Lithuanian language specialists at the US Heritage Schools and the ones of different institutions of Lithuania was discussed in order to update programs of teaching of Lithuanian as a Foreign language, to create its proficiency tests and internationally recognized certificates.
Participants of the meeting were Mrs. Virginija Rinkevičienė (Head of the Lithuanian disapora department at the Ministry of Education and Science), Mrs. Marytė Speičienė (Specialist of the Lithuanian diaspora department at the Ministry of Education and Science), Mrs. Nida Poderienė (Leading specialist of secondary and primary education department at the Ministry of Education and Science), Mrs. Aušra Dumbliauskienė (Specialist of the Lithuanian diaspora department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs), Mrs. Auksė Motto (Director of the Lietuvele Lithuanian Heritage School of NJ, US), Mr. Zenonas Bedalis (KFF Vilnius bureau Excecutive Director), Neila Baumilienė (KFF New York bureau Director and Director of A.Kazickas Lithuanian Heritage School NY, US).
