Lithuanian high school students applying for ASSIST scholarships at the private boarding schools in the US were interviewed at the Kazickas Family Residence in Vilnius on January 25-26.
During those two days 56 students were interviewed by the ASSIST board members from USA Joe Gould and Robert Fleishman and The Davis International Scholars Program representative from Philip Academy Andover Jill B. Thompson. The Kazickas Family Foundation treasurer John Kazickas who is currently ASSIST board member as well and US Embassy representatives Rasa Baukuviene and Inga Sidrys also participated at the interview process.
Interviewers were impressed by students' excellent English language and communication skills. John Kazickas shared: "Once again, this year's ASSIST candidates were welcomed to the Kazickas residence for interviews and they showed why they made it through the rigorous application and qualification process. We are extremely impressed with their wealth of talent and maturity and are excited to see those who will be picked to come to America later this year."
Selected candidates' cases were handed over to the ASSIST headquarters in Connecticut, US. Scholarship recipients will be announced at the end of March.
Michael Kazickas who had a pleasure to observe the interview process for the first time, was delighted to notice: "The ASSIST Scholarship candidates displayed maturity, confidence, poise, and a seriousness that belied their years. It was most enjoyable as well as informative for me to sit in on some of these interviews and later on speak with the students in a much more relaxed setting at the student/parent and alumni reception held afterwards at the Kazickas family residence. Good luck to all the ASSIST candidates!!"
Every year after the interviews the Kazickas family members invite ASSIST team, program's alumni, their families and program's guests to the annual gathering at their family residence in Vilnius to chat and share the experiences.
