Lithuanian hero Mr. Albinas Kentra - partisan, annalist of the history of the road to freedom of Lithuania, preserver of the memory of the forest brothers - was awarded a Freedom Prize 2019.
The Kazickas family Foundation Vilnius office director Agne Vertelkaite shares few thoughts from the award ceremony on the Freedom Defenders' Day:
It was my tremendous honor to witness the award ceremony at the Parliament of Lithuania on the occasion of Freedom Defenders' Day and congratulate Albinas Kentra on behalf of the Kazickas Family Foundation.
The Kazickas Family Foundation’s grants ensure digitization and copying of over 5,000 hours of historical video material accumulated by Forest Brothers organization as a testimonial of events over the recent history of Lithuania in order to strengthen Lithuania‘s freedom and statehood. Albinas Kentra, one of the main contributors to this archive, sees filming of important events in Lithuania as the current form of his fight for freedom, because he believes that “the fight for freedom never ends, it just changes its form".
