June 17th, 2020 marks the 100th jubilee of Alexandra Kazickas’s (06.17.1920-06.17.1920) birth. She was the devoted wife of patriot and philanthropist, Joseph Peter Kazickas (1918-2014), mother of five children, grandmother of eleven, a woman of noble character and generous spirit, a true daughter of Lithuania.
Alexandra served as a helpmate to her husband through the tumultuous war years in Lithuania, then in the refugee camps in Germany, and as an immigrant to a new country, America. Her long life, filled with so many varied and enriching experiences, travel and adventures, was in many ways extraordinary, but today we celebrate and remember her more for those qualities that give true meaning to a life well-lived: her love of her husband and children, her patriotism, her loyalty to her many friends, and her humility, graciousness and generosity.
To honor the memory of Alexandra Kazickas we invite you to join us for the Holy Mass held by Father Antanas Saulaitis at the Church of St. John's in Vilnius, Lithuania on Wednesday, June 17th, 2020 at 6 p.m. (11 a.m.EST) Sacred music will be shared by organ players Leopoldas Digrys and Renata Marcinkute Lesieur, soloists Asta Kriksciunaite (soprano) and Liudas Mikalauskas (bass).
Following the Mass, at 7 p.m. (12 p.m. EST), please join us for the Literacy Award in memory of Petras Butenas and Alexandra Kazickas ceremony.
Live streaming will be available (in Lithuanian only) via the Kazickas Family Foundation Facebook channel for those who are not able to attend. Recording with English subtitles will be available shortly after the event.
