The Kazickas Family Foundation started year 2019 with exciting new ideas and plans, while being truly dedicated to the causes their beloved parents cared so much about. While remembering Alexandra Kazickas (1920-2011) and her eternal care for Lithuania's children, we are glad to share that KFF decided to grant $120,390 to support 25 Lithuanian Heritage Schools in the US that applied this year.
Since 2012 Alexandra Kazickas Grant Program donated close to $800,000 to Lithuanian Heritage Schools in the US. In addition, it is the main supporter of the Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School in Riverhead that was established in 2006. The Kazickas Family Foundation also has been contributing to the Lithuanian Educational Council of the USA for many years, initiated and sponsored Lithuanian language proficiency tests for Lithuanian heritage language schools' students and started summer internship program in Lithuania currently called "Bring Together Lithuania".
It's exciting that Lithuanian education in the US, as well as in many countries across the globe is valued as important investment in Lithuania's future and its biggest national treasure - children. Alexandra Kazickas was deeply committed to the preservation of a Lithuanian identity for young people growing up in the US. Lithuanian heritage schools help preserve Lithuanian language and culture for the benefit of individuals, communities and society. When in partnership with local organizations and academic institutions in the US as well as in Lithuania, Heritage schools provide students with multiple ways of learning through educational and enrichment experiences and opportunities. KFF seeks a stronger impact of the Lithuanian education on students and is exploring new creative avenues allowing to connect them with Lithuania in the most rewarding ways.
