On Dec. 10, The Globe, Lithuanian Artist Ray Bartkus's installation, was presented in the Exhibition Space at the Delegates entrance of the UN Headquarters. Mr. Jan K. Eliasson, Deputy Secretary - General of the UN presented the artwork and thanked Lithuania for its active role in the UN Security Council.
Permanent Representative of the Rep. of LT to UN H.E. Ms. R. Murmokaite and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Rep. of LT H.E. Mr. L. Linkevicius were present at the event.
Neila Baumiliene (KFF NY bureau director) thanks the Lithuanian Permanent Mission to the UN (particularly Nida Jakubone (Minister Counsellor) and Diana Praneviciene (Counsellor)) for the invitation.
At the event, Mrs. Baumiliene had an opportunity to speak to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius. She thanked the Ministry for staying in close contact with the Kazickas Family Foundation, in helping KFF grantees the Lithuanian Heritage schools of the US in their work and for the representation of their work through the diplomatic channels. Mrs. Baumiliene also informed the Minister about the Trafficking in Persons issue that the Foundation has been working on with the Lithuanian NGOs and the Committee on the Human Rights in Seimas, and asked for the Ministry's active involvement in helping to solve the issue in Lithuania.
