The Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School families celebrated Christmas this year together with the Eastern Long Island Lithuanian Community led by Rasa Mitruleviciene. Close to a hundred people gathered to watch children present "Santa and Summer." Children took curious Santa on a trip to show him what summer looks like. After realizing it's not the right place for him, children, with some help from the specialists, helped Santa to get home to the North Pole safely.
Consul general Julius Pranevicius and his children stopped by to wish everyone merry Christmas and present school with the historical flag of Lithuania which is often referred to as the Vytis flag.
He and his team were also the winners of children's trivia competition and were presented with a special prize, cake baked by school's student Ema.
During the event everyone got a chance to try out their luck in the lottery. Prizes, including children's toys, gift cards from the ice cream shops, certificates to the massage parlors, spas, restaurants and many more were distributed among the winners.
$2,073 were raised during the event, which will be split equally betwen the school and the community. School's children, teachers and families will decide on a field trip they'll take this spring using these funds.
