We are proud of the Basketball Power coach of Marijampole Andrius Levanas and share his achievements with you. While working as a police sports instructor, he noticed that his police department had to deal with teens of an adjacent school more than regularly. He found Basketball Power program on Facebook, wrote to the program's manager and asked if he could join the program with the teens from the school. And the rest is history. Thank you, Andrius!
Suduvis.lt article about "Basketball Power" coach Andrius Levanas:
The Police Department of the Ministry of Interior of Lithuania recognized best athletes, most athletic organizations and police sports instructors of 2016. Andrius Levanas, sports instructor of Marijampole Police Headquarters (PH), received the third place in the country. He got 50 points, and was two points behind the second place winner Mindaugas Krisciokaitis of Siauliai, and nine points behind Linas Svamarys who was first.
Andrius started working in Marijampole PH only two years ago. Then conditions for the police officers to do sports were minimal. Everything has changed since i.e., regular physical exercises, local sports events, conditions to exercise after work hours, participation in the national police sports events encreased. In 2016 alone, Marijampole PH had ten sports events. It participated in 22 events organized by the National Police and other organizations. Medals and cups were earned.
Andrius Levanas not only organizes exercises, sports events and prepares teams for sports competitions, but also is an active athlete himself. In 2016, along with Marijampole PH basketball teammates he won two medals, and had an excellent score at the 5km run “We run for Marijampole”, as well as in the running relay race “Medininkai – Vilnius”. Police Commissioner General of Lithuania Linas Pernavas when giving the award to Andrius Levanas, expressed happiness that the staff gains new promising members, and wished Andrius even more success in the next year. The sports instructor was happy to have such friendly team of athletes, who not only exercise willingly but participate in competitions as well.
We congratulate Andrius as his colleagues, and wish him an excellent, promising and athletic year!
