While celebrating 100 years of Restored Lithuania and 100th birthday of citizen of Lithuania and USA, Yale doctor of economics, successful businessman and philanthropist, Dr. Joseph Kazickas (1918-2014), Lithuanian National Library TV studio introduced his work and contribution to Lithuania's culture, restoration of its freedom and development.
According to V. Valiusaitis, dr. J. Kazickas was maybe even more influential person than Petras Vileisis, who could be called Lithuanian National movement spiritus movens or economic locomotive who was pulling Lithuanian print, art and other activities in the beginning of the XX century. What both of them have in common is committment to work for Lithuania, but dr. Kazickas' capacity and at the same time support for Lithuania was on a much bigger scale. However, dr. J. Kazickas' role in Lithuania's history is not quite understood and appreciated yet in Lithuania.
Dr. J. Kazickas' philanthropy is continued by the Kazickas Family Foundation, doing work in New York since 1998 and in Vilnius since 1999.
According to the KFF New York office director Neila Baumiliene, foundation's work is based on the Kazickas family values, so most attention is dedicated to education, health, culture, religious and social projects.
