Every year Kaunas University of Technology faculty of Informatics Informikas Academy invites school children to participate at regional information technologies, computer programming and sciences contests in Zemaitija, Aukstaitija, Suvalkija, Dzukija and Kaunas, as well as final Dr. J. P. Kazickas computer forum which will take place on March 25th this year.
Students who show best results at the programming contests will earn a spot at the National Informatics Olympiad of Lithuania.
This year the fifth competition was added at the Kaunas University of Technology Secondary School where future engineering scientists and inventors study.
Contests are split into two stages. During the first stage, five regional contests are organized in Dzukija, Aukstaitija, Suvalkija, Zemaitija and Kaunas, where students from surrounding areas participate. Young people test their skills at the informational technologies and programming areas. This year competitions were divided into two levels: one for younger students up to 8th grade and general one for older ones. Younger students could choose which level they wanted to test their skills at.
The final Dr. J. P. Kazickas forum will take place on March 25th where students from entire Lithuania (including Vilnius and Kaunas) will be able to participate. Participants will tackle in three competitions: programming, applied information technologies, multimedia and software development. Committees for each competition select top three winners who are awarded with Kazickas Family foundation's and other supporters prizes.
During the regional contests and the final forum, seminars for the teachers are also provided. The theme of this year's seminars is "Modern Virtual Teaching: Methods and Technologies."
