Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas (1918-2014) and his beloved wife Alexandra (1920-2011) were generous supporters of the Lithuanian Foundation (est. 1962 in Chicago, IL). Dr. Kazickas had been on the Board of Directors of the Lithuanian Foundation for 13 years and had immensely contributed to its success.
Dr. Kazickas organized fundraisers on the East coast, chaired meetings and hosted conferences. Having been a graduate from Yale University with a PhD in economics, and an entrepreneur and philanthropist himself, who stayed interested in politics, and economics his whole life, he advised the board on funds management and investments, as well as on allocation of grants. After his death, the Kazickas Family honored his memory with a special JPK fund within the Lithuanian Foundation, which has been financing student grants and projects for Lithuanian causes.
On October 16th, 2017, Neila Baumiliene, the Executive Director of the NYC bureau of the Kazickas Family Foundation, came to the offices of the Lithuanian Foundation to look at the Archives and gather material on Dr.J. P. Kazickas' work in the Lithuanian Foundation. The Kazickas Family Foundation thanks Mrs. Laima Apanaviciene, Representative for the Media, and Mrs. Jurate Mereckis, Excecutive Director of the Lithuanian Foundation, for their help and time in the archive.
