The Kazickas Family Foundation and V. K. Jonynas gallery in Druskininkai welcomed everyone Friday, September 7th to the event introducing Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas' life and Tuesday, September 11th to the educational picnic of free stained glass, mosaic, sculpture and graphic workshops for youth.
Kazickas Family Foundation project manager Agne Vertelkaite and historian Vidmantas Valiusaitis introduced the exhibit. Druskininkai M. K. Ciurlionis school students Austeja Katčenkaite and Doroteja Bachtijeva (teacher Grazina Vosyliene) shared few songs accompanied by Tauras Olsauskas on the piano.
Yesterday V. K. Jonynas gallery offered educational workshops "Educational Jonynas and Kazickas Picnic" to Druskininkai students and guests where they were introduced to J. P. Kazickas' life story, V. K. Jonynas work, similar faith of an emigrant that both of them shared, their love and work for Lithuania. During the event V. K. Jonynas art that belongs to the Kazickas family was presented: mosaic Jurate and Kastytis, bas reliefs depicting Lithuanian homestead life, stained glass and sculpture Leda and the Swan based on a Greek myth.
Young Druskininkai residents chose Jurate and Kastytis theme and made colorful life under the sea stained glass pieces with fish made out of tiny pebbles and playful sculpture during the workshop. V. K. Jonynas gallery was full of life, creative and joyful vibe!
