In August 2016, the 11th Mission Siberia expedition returned home from faraway lands where Lithuanians once were exiled in Russian Federation, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan Republics.
Over ten years a hundred cemeteries were cleaned up and taken care of. Still, there are around 700 more and most of them will disappear with time.
Take a look at these very interesting and moving pictures of the latest expedition.

The initiative which started in 2005 became one of the biggest social awareness and patriotism programs in Lithuania with a purpose to go back to the places of exile of the citizens of Lithuanian of the years 1940-52, to clean up cemeteries, to meet with those who stayed and never returned, to record history and to tell others about it upon return. In 2016, a book reflecting on 10 years of the Mission was published. Along with each year's pictures and memories, the book explains the participants selection process (50 applications to a spot, 16 finalists), gives historical facts, aspects of preparation for the expedition (a year long research of the destination point, a two day trial expedition in the woods and historical trails of Lithuania for the most motivated 70 semi finalists) ... KFF was among Mission Siberia sponsors.
