The morning of April 6th, New York Maironis Lithuanian School's parents gathered at school with a creative idea motivated by the Kazickas Family Foundation Matching Grant program to raise additional funds to support school's work. School was inviting all to a special Lithuanian lunch - cepelinai.
Since early morning, parents were peeling potatoes, potato graders were running, bacon bits sizzling just so all could enjoy the end result - cepelinai lunch.
The 1st graders had a lesson on cooking the Lithuanian way - they tasted cheese, bread, salami, potato pancakes, dumplings and, with some teachers' help, learned how to make cold borscht!
At the end of the day all students, teachers and guests enjoyed a tasty cepelinai lunch.
During the special lunch $745 were collected that will be invested in school's work. The Kazickas Family Foundation will double funds collected under its Matching Grant program.
Huge Thank You goes out to all who contributed!
