"The Kazickas family is always pleased to support the Sacred Music Festival in loving memory of our parents, Joseph and Alexandra, especially our mother who died on June 17, 2011 when she was 91.
She had a beautiful voice and often sang in the church choir where her sweet soprano we liked to say could bring the angels to tears.
It was in 2001, during the celebration of the Kazickas 60th wedding anniversary, that Maestro Leopoldas Digrys became acquainted with the family. Here in St. Casimir church he played a concert on a simple electronic organ because the original church organ was destroyed during soviet times and the church had been turned into a museum of atheism.
Two years later, 2003, the Kazickas Family Foundation helped purchase the Oberlinger Organ, recognized as the best one in eastern europe. During the 2017 Christopher Summer Festival, now an annual event since 1995, a dozen or so organ concerts will be performed here as well as in other parts of the country. Organists from seven countries and even the Vatican will play on this beautiful instrument.
In 2015, the series of free concerts was renamed the Kazickas Family Sacred Music Hours. We thank Maestro Leopoldas Digrys and Renata Marcinkute Lesieur for their tireless efforts in organizing the Festival and keeping the Lithuanian organ music vibrant and alive.
Let each one of us during this special Mass remember all those dear to us who have left this earth for eternal peace in heaven. And while listening to this heavenly music, we will rejoice in the majesty of God’s love."
