In fight against human trafficking within/across/from Lithuania and in order to expand array of conversations with ”The Power of Basketball” program’s vulnerable children, the director of the KFF NYC bureau met with organizations working in the field of human trafficking prevention.
On July 17, in the XV Parliament of the Lithuanians of the World in Vilnius, Lithuania a session on Human trafficking issues was held. A round table discussion with Monsignor E. Putrimas (LBC Delegate for the Lithuanian Catholics in the Diaspora), dr. A.Šakočius (Senior Advisor to the Police Commissioner General of Lithuania), Fr.A.Toliatas (Senior Chaplain of the Police), K.Kiskyte (student at the Notre Dame Law School's LL.M program, U.S.) followed. On July 28, the KFF director met with K.Mišiniene (Head of the Program for the Human trafficking victims in Lithuania) and her colleagues in Kaunas “Caritas”. Representatives of "Caritas", the Lithuanian Roman Catholic Church and the Police offered their assistance in helping “The Power of Basketball” program coaches and the KFF grantees to learn about the issue in oder to educate vulnerable population in Lithuania.
