During his recent trip to Lithuania John Kazickas stopped by at the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology at Vilnius University Children’s Hospital and was pleasantly surprised by a tremendous renovation done at the Center.
John Kazickas, together with the Kazickas Family Foundation New York office director Neila Baumiliene, met with Center's director dr. Jelena Rascon and her colleagues who showed them around and shared the latest accomplishments, as well as the issues they face.
This incredible transformation was made possible thanks to continuous support and cooperation of five organizations that dedicate their work to help Lithuania's children fighting cancer: Rimantas Kaukenas Charitable Foundation, Childhood Cancer Fund Rugute, the Paguoda Association, Mamų Unija and the Kazickas Family Foundation. While such big responsibility to renovate the Center for Pediatric Oncology and Hematology is almost complete, center still faces some challenges. Finding funds to keep skilled nurses and specialists, to invest in their continuous education so Lithuania's pediatric oncology specialists could provide the children and their families with the best possible treatment and care, is still an issue that concerns dr. Rascon. The lack of tools and skills to help families deal with the loss and throughout the grieving process is also an issue she is working to solve.
On behalf of the Kazickas Family Foundation John Kazickas thanked Dr. Rascon for the incredible work her team does and for her time to show the transformation. The Kazickas Family Foundation supports all the good work the Center does.
