"For Many It's No Big Deal, but for 15 Year Old Emilija - It's a Dream: She's Ready for Anything"
Emilija needs to travel for 3.5 hours or 180 kilometers to reach Vilnius from her home town Pandelys. Fifteen year old will travel it all just so she could participate at June 16th "Women's Run" in Vilnius for the first time.
She can't wait for the run she's been preparing for. "It is a great opportunity to test yourself, to spend time with other girls and just to have a good time. I think it will be an exciting and unforgettable event. I hope this run will be a great start of summer," shares the girl
It might be not such a special event for the others, but for Emilija, just as for the other 35 girls, it is an exceptional trip. Many of them will arrive from remote corners of Lithuania just so they could run 5 kilometers for the first time together with other women and girls of Lithuania through the Vilnius streets.
Girls were united by the "Girl Power Running" idea seeiking to motivate girls from small towns and villages to reach for bigger goals, gain confidence and develop life skills. Girls received running shoes, they have been actively encouraged to practice by a special Facebook group, active women who are running enthusiasts and their own friendship.
President of the Kazickas Family Foundation and „Girl Power Running“ initiator Jurate Kazickas couldn't hide her excitement about new found partnership with the "Women's Run" and extraordinary opportunity for program's girls: "I love running, I ran four marathons and know how running with the crowd motivates you, how you share energy with the ones running next to you. It is extremely important that many women of different ages and from different walks of life will get together with one common goal - to not give up and have a great time - that is an important thing to remember not just while running but while going through life as well."
The only women's run in Lithuania expects around 2,000 participants. In addition to a friendly run, women will have the opportunity to enjoy massages, fun time, presents from "Nike," "Sebamed," other sponsors and medals, of course.
