On June 13, 2016 the President of the Kazickas Family Foundation Jurate Kazickas visited A. Damusis Democracy Studies Center at Mykolas Romeris University in Vilnius. Invited by the founder of the center ambassador Ginte Damusis, J. Kazickas met with Mykolas Romeris University Rector prof. Algirdas Monkevicius and MRU Senate President prof. Gintaras Aleknonis.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the mission, goals and work of the Adolfas Damusis Democracy Studies Center (ADDSC), which promotes research about the development of twentieth century democratic political thought in Lithuania with a focus on civic engagement and resistance to authoritarianism and totalitarianism. The founder of the KFF - Juozas Kazickas, and Adolfas Damusis, were both active participants in Lithuania’s early democratic development and resistance movements during the first decades of Lithuanian independence and foreign occupations.
KFF President Jurate Kazickas also visited MRU LAB, a strategic and innovative research center where ADDSC is based. The MRU LAB network consolidates scientific research and collaboration within the university and with other academic institutions on joint national and international research projects. In a meeting with Prof. Inga Zaleniene, MRU Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations, possible venues of cooperation between the KFF and ADDSC were discussed, including support for doctoral and postdoctoral research in areas of mutual interest.
ADDSC Founder/Board of Directors member ambassador Ginte Damusis and ADDSC Director Vidmantas Valiusaitis also participated in the meetings.
