Kazickas Family Foundation Director Neila Baumiliene with a group of supporters met with Raseiniai local administration oficials who are willing to face and solve the local youth issues such as engaging them in a productive activity, keeping them away from the criminal world and human trafficking.
Among those who participated, there were Rseiniai Municipality District Mayor Algirdas Gricius, Raseiniai Deputy Director of Administration Jonas Kurlavicius, Raseiniai Education and Social affairs Department Director Jolita Jablonskiene, Raseiniai Social Service Center Director Arvydas Spurga, Ariogala School Principal Arvydas Stankus, Raseiniai Police Department Prevention Center Director Darius Jonaitis and others.
N. Baumiliene introduced everyone to the foundation's work, areas it supports, including its latest program "Basketball Power." This social responsibility program seeks not athletic, but social results: it provides Day Centers' children with free basketball lessons and mentoring programs aiming to prevent and raise awareness around such issues as bullying, alcoholism, suicide, human trafficking and other important issues. Children are taught to appreciate teamwork, develop self-confidence, respect others and resolve conflicts, recognize dangerous situations, and of course, to make friends. She emphasized that lately foundation's focus has been on social and educational causes. Raseiniai municipality officials discussed possible future cooperation possibilities with the foundation.
With the foundation's encouragement, on September 1st, 2016 Children's Day Center in Ariogala will open its doors. Temporarily it will start its work at the Ariogala high school with a plan to move into newly renovated facilities in the nearest future. The need for such center has been in Ariogala for a while. Currently, 20 children are already signed up. It is extremely important to keep Ariogala children and youth safe of the streets and away from the criminal world and provide them with the productive and educational afterschool activities.
