The very first Lithuanian Language Testers Training Seminar in Vilnius will take place November 25-26th. Seminar participants will be taught to examine students taking a A1-A2-B1 language proficiency test. Such test is a big step in a long process trying to accomplish that Lithuanian language taught at the Lithuanian heritage schools all over the world would be valued at the same level as other heritage languages worldwide.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania is organizing this seminar and is inviting lecturers from Vilnius University Lithuanian Studies Department Testing Group: Elvyra Kutanoviene, Rita Migauskiene, Joana Pribusauskaite, Virginija Stumbriene and Lina Vaskeviciene. Seminars sponsors - the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania and the Kazickas Family Foundation.
Lithuanian schools teachers from Ireland, Great Britain, Norway, Sweeden, Russia and France are coming to this seminar to earn knowledge about testing process and earn certificates allowing them to test students in the countries they live in.
Last spring eighty nine students from twelve Lithuanian schools and few young people, not attending such school but wishing to test their language proficiency, took A1-A2-B1 language proficiency/level test for juniors (born in 2002 and older) in seven different testing centers across the US. Students received certificates from the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania and Vilnius University confirming students' Lithuanian language proficiency. All examining teachers have been trained last January at the same seminar in Boston.
Two teachers from the US, who already participated at the seminar in Boston and tested students last April, will bring their expertise to share with the others in Vilnius.
Hopefully, next year during the assigned testing day Lithuanian youth not just in the US, but also in different countries across the Europe will be able to take A1-A2-B1 Lithuanian language proficiency test.
