First ever, Lithuanian language proficiency level A2 exam for the youth in the U.S. conducted by Vilnius University on May 9th and 10th (a pilot project with the EU) is a great outcome of the KFF three year long initiative to support Lithuanian language teaching, learning and evaluation outside Lithuania.
If the Department of Lithuanian (as a foreign/second language) proficiency testing and certification is established in Vilnius, Lithuania, - all those (including the youth) learning Lithuanian outside Lithuania would be able to take A1,A2, B1, B2, C1,C2 level exams and get Internationally recognized language proficiency certificates.
On May 9th, in the A.Kazickas Lithuanian School (NY), and on May 10th in the V.Kudirka Lithuanian School (NJ), the Department of Lithuanian Studies of Vilnius University (represented by Rita Migauskiene) held the examination of Lithuanian language proficiency level A2 created for the Lithuanian Heritage Schools of the US. The test based on the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR) was ordered by the Ministry of the Education and Science of Lithuania upon request from the Kazickas Family Foundation and Lithuanian Educational Council of the U.S.
