In June, while in Lithuania, Marcie, John, Alex, Augustine and Peter Kazickas, visited Santariškės Hospital in Vilnius. For almost a year, Marcie and John have been working with Eglė Melinauskienė, head of the Mothers Union, in helping sick children in the Children Oncology Department.
In her recent letter, Eglė writes: "I am thankful for your care and kind hearts, for the enormous work you have done for the children of Lithuania. Your support and time for the kids are priceless. Oftentimes, we can not find people of Lithuania who are as devoted as you are. We gave your gifts for Emilis and the little one could not believe that these were his own toys. He has never had any toys that were only his. After your visit to the hospital (in June), I met with the head of the Hematology Center Jelena Razgon. We had a discussion about the future, plans to work together, about possible internships of Lithuanian doctors in the U.S. ... I also received a big wish list of medical equipment and supplies needed in the hospital.
We are so happy for Adrijus, the possibilities he was given to live a full life. We are sad for Justinas whom we lost to cancer. He tried to fight it off and to become a volunteer of the Mothers union. He was loved by many, many who cared for him. I thank you for your love and care you showed to Justinas."
