KFF is committed to further strengthening Lithuanian Heritage schools ability to attract and retain students, to enchance instuction and assessment. Supporting AKGP, KFF is wokring with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Lithuania in creating Lithuanian Proficiency Exams to certify the competency of candidates (children, juniors and adults) from outside Lithuania in Lithuanian language.
On June 2 and 3, AKGP director met with representatives from the US Lithuanian Heritage schools, Lithuanian Educational Council, Lithuanian Embassy in Chicago, Lithuanians in the World Education Committee, the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania in order to work together for the benefit of the Lithuanian Heritage Schools of the US. Meetings lasted two days and were held in the Maironis Lithuanian School in Lemont, IL and Chicago Cultural School in Chicago, IL. Discussed subjects were the following: financing of the Heritage language programs, summer camps in Lithuania for the Lithuanian kids of the diaspora, teacher continuous education, students from Lithuanian Universities visits to the Heritage schools, studies in Lithuania for the Lithuanian students from abroad, Lithuanian language (as a foreign language) proficiency tests and credits, preparation of teaching and assessment material according to CEFR language A1-A2, B1-B2, C1-C2 levels.
