New program called “Girls Power” has started last Sunday, April 15th! This initiative was launched from the “Basketball Power” program that is counting its 4th season already. More than 100 girls from small towns and villages gathered at the brand new sports arena in Jonava for the very first program’s event.
The purpose of such program and event – to motivate and encourage girls to dream big, to reach for their goals and to help make friends all over Lithuania.
There were plenty of different activities for the girls from the first moments of the event – with the mentors’ help, girls met each other and shared their dreams and hobbies. After an active physiotherapist Alberta Eismantaitė’s warm up, girls split up into several groups to compete in different sports activities that not only required athletic skills, but also tactical moves. Everyone was a winner – excitement was in the air and all participants kept on smiling all day.
After the activities, girls had a chance to hear some motivational stories of the basketball player and BC Kauno “Žalgiris” host Dalia Belickaitė, BC Lietuvos Rytas dancer Sigita Belickaitė, active volunteer Alvita Daudaitė, youth psychologist Aida Rakauskienė, basketball club and SKM (Capital’s Basketball School) physiotherapist Alberta Eismantaitė and Ieva Marija Černiauskaitė, who connected politics with basketball, about the importance of pursuing your dreams and trying to be the best version of yourself.
Exciting event ended with a picnic, during which girls not only had snacks, but also had a chance to interact with one another and share their thoughts. The Kazickas Family Foundation hopes that this program continues to grow and through it, Lithuanian diaspora and friends, living outside of Lithuania, would join and be a part of Lithuanian children and youth’s lives.
From the bottom of our hearts we thank Jonava sports arena for cooperation and Benas Čekanavičius for his help organizing this amazing event.
