Peter Kazickas Discusses Future Partnerships for "The Power of Basketball"
11/23/2015
During the November 15th meeting in Washington, DC, KFF's Peter Kazickas met with John Holm of CAF America, Tomasz Solarek and Michal Micielski of Marcin Gortat Foundation MG13 to discuss exciting new opportunity to work together.
MG13 is offering its experience to provide "the Power of Basketball" with new ways to benefit Lithuanian youth. The meeting that was suggested by Martin Conlon (formerly of NBA Cares, currently of the Avenues) brought interesting perspectives for both programs.
Mr. Holm summarized the discussion with folowing goals:
1. MG Camp / Kazickas Camp (KFF) Exchange Program
- We will coordinate together by starting small and look to have several Lithuanian kids attend the MG Camps in Poland and vice versa this summer to build community and cross border appreciation. As logistics are relatively smooth (6 hour drive etc) this is an easy way to align values on both sides for engagement. KFF & MG will coordinate budgets for this together and start with discussions with embassy
2. USA Scholarships Opportunity
- MG Camps is very interested in identifying ways to bring Polish youth to the US for scholarships. Peter will provide contact information at the US to help build the system/infrastructure to begin actively promoting this activity in Poland.
3. US and Lithuanian Embassy Coordination
- Based on the success that MG Camps has in raising funds/grants from the US State/Embassy in Poland, they will provide contacts and information to KFF to help their cause in Lithuania. Also MG Camps will provide contact information and context for Lithuanian ambassador in Poland to bring additional support
