While continuing his very busy trip to Lithuania, Peter Kazickas dedicated time to visit few of the programs that KFF supports. “On Sunday, June 20th we attended a mass in Mamyte's honor and presented a Literacy Award in Memory of Petras Butenas and his student Alexandra Kazickas to one of Lithuania's great linguists,” shared Peter using a sweet name that all the children and grandchildren of Alexandra Kazickas call her – Mamyte.
“On Monday we welcomed the Bring Together Lithuania scholars at the Kazickas family residence in Vilnius before heading off for a meeting with the current President Gitanas Nauseda and First Lady Diana Nausediene. This was a very cool experience and the President & First Lady were very generous with their time. As the meeting wrapped up and we bid our farewells, the First Lady and President spoke for a few minutes specifically about the impact that the Kazickas Family has had on Lithuania and of their gratitude for the family's good works. It was a very sincere and distinct honor to receive their kind words on behalf of the family,” continued Peter.
Next stop was Rumsiskes where Peter spent time with the Youth Can coaches and a trip to the lake with YC Miroslavas team. Peter, who was one of the main initiators of Youth Can program thanked the coaches for their work and chatted with the teens touching the topics important to the young generation.
Later on Peter took another trip back to Panevezys. This time he visited Vytautas Zemkalnis school that his grandmother Alexandra Kazickas attended back in the 1930’s. Peter congratulated the students who participated in the Alexandra Kazickas award contest and reminding all how important education was to his grandparents, encouraged the students to seek education and believe in their strengths.
Back in Vilnius Peter visited MO Museum where KFF supports a program for youth. He met museum’s incredible team who shared museum’s extraordinary history, the work it does and ways KFF support gets invested at MO Museum.
