Peter Kazickas took a three day trip to Lithuania to meet with various basketball coaches and charity organizations about developing a basketball school to work with disadvantaged youths, as well as mentally, and physically disabled persons, aimed at addressing the social issues of suicide and alcoholism that plague Lithuanian families.
The goal is to create a program that uses basketball as a tool for personal development, encourages kids to give back to their country and fellow citizens by taking on a more socially responsible initiative, and stressing the values of education and strong morals; to teach kids about the rich history of Lithuania, what it means to be free, and the instumental role basketball played in independence.
The program initiated by the KFF will be developped in partnership with NBA in the US and the following partners in Lithuania: Sostines Krepsinio mokykla (Capital Basketball School), Save the Children Foundation, Wheelchair basketball team of Lithuania, Hope Foundation, "Lietuvos Rytas" basketball team.
