The Kazickas Family Foundation and its program “Youth Can” teams are grateful and honored by a special gesture of gratitude from Her Excellency Dalia Grybauskaite. On the last day of May, at the Presidential Palace Park, during the picnic celebrating three-year anniversary of "For a Safe Lithuania" campaign closest partners of the initiative received a special symbolic signboard of the campaign.
“The 'For a Safe Lithuania' campaign addressed a wide range of various problems and now we can see truly great results. But it is the attention to our children so that they can feel safe and happy that matters the most. Three years is not a long time, but I hope that the campaign will not end, because its meaningful idea connects us all and provides joy”, - said The President.
Among the closest partners of the “For a Safe Lithuania” campaign are the Kazickas Family Foundation, non-governmental organisations “Save the Children”, “Maltesers”, “Caritas” and others.
“This is such a happy day not only for the Kazickas Family Foundation and its “Youth Can” program, but also for all the program's children. We are so happy to have such partners as the Presidential campaign “For a Safe Lithuania”, because it is only when we are together that we can reach our goals. The first year of the program was filled not only with beautiful memories and life-changing stories, but also faced some challenges that our dedicated coaches and coordinators had to work on. I don’t know if there could be any greater reward for all the hard work than the gesture of gratitude from the President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite. On behalf of the whole team of the Kazickas Family Foundation I want thank for the recognition that will help us to continue to work hard for Lithuania” – says Arminas Vareika, “Youth Can” director.
More than two hundred children from all around Lithuania enjoyed the picnic and a concert by a Lithuanian music group “Biplan” and singers Jurga Šeduikytė and Vidas Bareikis. "Youth Can" Lentvaris and Veliučionys teams also participated.
The “Youth Can” program was inspired by “Hoops4Hope” program in Zimbabwe. Program, previously known as "Basketball Power", was started in 2015 and teaches life skills through sports with a goal to boost the motivation and create more opportunities for the youth and children living in the regions of Lithuania.
