June 17th, 2021 marks the 101st birthday of Alexandra Kazickas’s (06.17.1920-06.17.1920) birth. She was a generous philanthropist and the mother of five children. Alexandra was married for 70 years to Dr. Joseph P. Kazickas, a dedicated father, patriot and entrepreneur, intellectual and philanthropist, who founded the Kazickas Family Foundation. Together with their family, they cared for Lithuania, its freedom and its people for their entire lives.
Here, in a letter dated June 14, 1955, he praised Alexandra’s character and devotion to family:
“My Best, the Most Beloved Alyte,
(…) I do not feel now that I will be able to express properly all my thoughts and all the slightest vibrations of my heart, which I experience when I think about you. I love you, I know that you are the best wife and the Mother I could ever get or hope for, and at the same time, I know that your love gives me strength to continue the fight of my life... I can see so clearly what a sublime person you are, when I analyze you. With what sacrifice day in and day out, you do this unbearable work of a mother. With what love you nurture your family. How beautiful your (moral) principles, sincere faith, rightness and straightforwardness are. How big your love for me is… Alyte, you are such a grand human being! With tears in my eyes, I thank you for everything (…).
Yours always Juozukas.”
We will honor the memory of Alexandra Kazickas and all those we loved who now rest in eternal peace with Mass and Sacred Music concert on Sunday, June 20th 12 pm at St. Casimir church in Vilnius.
