On Sunday before the All Souls Day, Lucy, Joe and Augie Kazickas with a small group of Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian school children and parents visited the final resting place of dr. Joseph Kazickas, his wife Alexandra and their son Alexander at the East Hampton cemetery.
Every year Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian school family continues this tradition to gather and pay their respect to dr. Joseph, his wife Alexandra and their son Alexander Kazickas on All Souls Day.
At the same time, it's an opportunity to get together on a peaceful fall morning at the sacred place where people stop, collect their thoughts and remember all the loved ones that passed away.
All Souls Day in Lithuania is a day of solemnity, a day for a prayer. A candle lit that day represents a link between the ones who we carry in our hearts and the ones left behind.
Everyone shared names of the loved ones who are no longer with us but will remain in our hearts forever. Joe Kazickas shared some memories about his brother Alexander who passed away young in Nepal. He was a dear son, a brother, and an amazing athlete who's some swimming records still stand. A statue at the East Hampton cemetery, created by the Lithuanian artist Vladas Vildziunas, represents talent and passion of Alexander's life.
After a special morning of solemnity Lucy and Joe Kazickas treated everyone for hot cocoa and fresh donuts. It has become a warm tradition that will be cherished.
