Sacred Music Concerts Continue
09/14/2020

This year, the Sacred Music Hours cycle sponsored by the Kazickas Family Foundation invites you to a special concert series dedicated to mark the 100th birthday of Alexandra Kazickas. Lithuania’s young talents will appear in locations related to the life story of Alexandra.

Last Sunday, September 13, Pumpenai Parish invited everyone to a special concert during which Rugile Jukneviciute (cello), Ugne Katinskaite (violin), Pijus Paskevicius (oboe) and Renata Marcinkute-Lesieur (organ) shared beautiful sacred music arrangements.

Pumpenai town is well known to the Kazickas Family Foundation. Its program "Youth Can" has an incredible team of active youth there that participate in life skills lessons helping them to reach for their dreams.

Pumpenai Parish welcomes many Fathers and Sisters from many different countries, such as Argentina, USA, Ukraine. Father Domingo Avellaneda, who arrived from Argentina 17 years ago, expressed his gratitude to the performers comparing the sound of their music to feeling "as in Heaven."

The decision to bring Sacred Music Hours to smaller towns of Lithuania was not accidental: talented Alexandra Kazickas dreamed of becoming an artist, however the war significantly altered any pre-planned life scenarios. Nonetheless, she remained a firm believer in the potential of the younger generation and worked hard to see their talent nurtured, revealed and presented to the wider community. So, guests are being guided on our journey “in the muse’s footsteps” by the most skilled and talented young musicians, who have various competition laurels and appearances at the finest halls in Lithuania and abroad under their belts. However, they don’t over-accentuate their achievements, reminding us that a number of ambitious challenges still await!

Concerts are brought to the public together with the M. Rostropovich Charity and Support Foundation
