At St. Casimir’s Church (34 Didžioji St, Vilnius)
Sacred music concert dedicated to Joseph and Alexandra Kazickas' 78th wedding anniversary. Concert is free to the public.
On August 15, we remember and celebrate the lives of Alexandra and Joseph Kazickas, patriots and philanthropists - the day that would have been their 78th wedding anniversary. Although they emigrated to the United States in 1947, they never lost their love or longing for their homeland, Lietuva. During the long, dark years of Soviet occupation, Joseph and Alexandra did what they could to maintain links to the homeland and celebrate their culture and identity as Lithuanians. They never lost hope that Lithuania would regain its independence one day. With joyous hearts, they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2001 by renewing their marriage vows in St. Nicholas' church. And until their last breaths, they contributed to the development and growth of their homeland - free at last.
Dr. Joseph Kazickas and his wife Alexandra cherished sacred music. A cycle of concerts "Sacred Music Hours," now part of "The Christopher Summer Festival," had been supported by the Kazickas family for many years. It introduces world's most acclaimed organists who reveal various aspects of such powerful instrument. Anyone, who finds himself/herself in Lithuania this summer, is welcome to come enjoy the sounds of remarkable organ music while pausing to remember dr. Joseph and Alexandra Kazickas.
