The Kazickas Family Foundation sponsored the second Lithuanian Language Testers Seminar in Boston on January 13-14 where over 30 teachers from all over the US Lithuanian Heritage schools learned how to determine students language proficiency level according to CEFR standards.
January 15th Seminar, sponsored by the Lithuanian Foundation as well, was an extension of the first two days. Language proficiency level understanding helps to teach and even to speak to a student accordingly. It helps to test students language proficiency, when the language is other than their Mother tongue. The seminar was conducted by four professionals from Vilnius University who are members of ALTE - Association of Language Testers in Europe. The testers will conduct A1-A2-B1 level exams in the US on March 25-26, 2017. The Lithuanian Proficiency test will be taken also in Europe on the same day. The youth born in 2003 and older, who take the test, will receive certificates issued by Vilnius University and the Ministry of Education and Science of Lithuania. Thanks to this initiative, High schools in some US states, started giving Heritage language school students Lithuanian language credits on their High school diploma. The Kazickas Family foundation, in particular its Alexandra Kazickas Grant Program, and a group of enthusiasts and professionals in Lithuania and the Lithuanian Diaspora are credited for this very worthy series of events.
