While the Kazickas Family Foundation is focused on the safety of the communities in the US, Lithuania and around the globe during the COVID-19 crisis, it assures that the support for the programs and organizations it has been working with will continue.
During such uncertain times, the Foundation is still planning on giving 700,000 euros as planned in 2020, also allocating additional funds to help with the consequences of the pandemic. As usual, the Kazickas Family Foundation is focusing mostly on the families and children hit the hardest during this crisis.
Continuing its mission to help the most vulnerable communities, the Foundation reached out to the Day Centers and other organizations in its network checking in on the families and children, inquiring about the latest issues caused by the pandemic. At-risk families became even more vulnerable during the crisis with many parents losing their income. Schools and day centers are facing the challenge how to provide hot meals to at-risk children during such times. Thanks to the continuous care of our partners, information regarding many struggling families all over Lithuania is being collected and immediate help can be provided.
With the help of our partners, packages with groceries and other essential goods were delivered to 50 struggling families with more than 120 children. Unfortunately, the list keeps getting longer. Additional funds were provided to “Save the Children” to support its work.
KFF’s “Youth Can” program’s coaches also reached out to all the families of “Youth Can” children, learned about the challenges they are facing and delivered the packages with essential goods to the ones in need. They also got in touch with the program’s alumni to check how they were doing and if they needed any help. “Youth Can” program is continuing its work and moving its practices online. Physical activity certainly decreased during the quarantine, so boys and girls are invited to join the “Youth Can” team via Facebook Channel and stay active.
The Kazickas Family Foundation is also inviting Lithuanian diaspora to use its platform in order to transfer funds to a few selected organizations in Lithuania supporting either healthcare workers fighting COVID-19 in Lithuania or the most vulnerable families and children affected by the pandemic. Acting as an agent, KFF is helping to connect donor’s tax deductible donation in the US to the approved nonprofit in Lithuania. No amount of the donation is withheld by KFF for such service.
