Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School's students, teachers and parents say huge Thank You to the Kazickas Family Foundation for its continuous support.
Alexandra Kazickas, in who's honor school was named, deeply cared about the education and the importance of passing down the Lithuanian language and culture from generation to generation.
As one of 44 Lithuanian Heritage schools in the US, Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School has been serving about 500 members of the Lithuanian community of the East End of Long Island for the twelfth year in a row. Currently it has 30 students enrolled, ages 4 to 18. They learn Lithuanian language, literature, history and culture. Recently, Lithuanian language program for adults has been introduced and 3 adult students are taking Lithuanian language classes as well. The program is funded through tuition, Lithuanian Foundation, the Kazickas Family Foundation and fundraising.
School's 6 teachers are extremely proud of the accomplishments of their students throughout the years. Many students won various awards in competitions organized by the Lithuanian Educational Council of the USA and numerous educational institutions from Lithuania. Since its opening in 2006, school prepared 20 graduates who proudly continue using their Lithuanian language skills in their lives and spreading the word about their ancestors land. Many of them are active members of the Lithuanian community and look for ways to connect their future with Lithuania. A new program that was born from the need for such young people to sustain their link with Lithuania, was initiated by the Kazickas Family Foundation as well and created with the Global Lithuanian Leaders - We Connect. It offers productive summer opportunities in Lithuania, either through the internships in their field or volunteering. Alexandra Kazickas Lithuanian School and We Connect have the same goal - to raise young Lithuanian Language Ambassadors who will lead paths between the diaspora in the USA and Lithuania.
School's oldest student Ema Vilcinskaite shares her artistic skills to make a beautiful handmade Thank You card to the foundation.
