The Kazickas Family Members Meet with other Lithuanian Philanthropists
01/31/2020

During their trip to Lithuania in January, Jurate Kazickas, her husband Roger Altman and brother John Kazickas were invited to MO Museum for a tour and a discussion. Museum‘s founders Viktoras and Danguole Butkus and Marius Jakulis Jason Foundation founder Marius Jakulis Jason and his family chatted with the guests about the philanthropy path in Lithuania.

J. Kazickas, R. Altman and J. Kazickas learned about the areas other philanthropists in Lithuania focus on, their work together and visions for Lithuania. Viktoras and Danguole Butkus showed the guests around. The MO Museum is first and foremost intended as a place for visitors of any age to spend their free time in a meaningful way as a place for inspiration. It has become a welcoming and open cultural venue that encourages human interaction and creativity.

MO Museum, a personal initiative of Lithuanian scientists and philanthropists Danguolė and Viktoras Butkus, functioned as an art museum without walls for close to ten years. The collection of 5000 modern and contemporary pieces contains major Lithuanian artworks from the 1960s to this day. Viktoras and Danguole Butkus are co-founders and financiers behind the construction of the new 3,100 square-meter, 15 million euro, MO Modern Art Museum in Vilnius. From October 18th, 2018 MO has become an excellent place to spend free time. MO invites visitors to attend exhibitions, film screenings, educational activities, concerts and events geared to all age groups. One of MO’s goals is to create an active community of MOdernists who support the idea of MO and want to help to create a new kind of museum – together!

Marius Jakulis Jason Foundation was started to financially support talented business persons, academics, and students who want and are able to contribute to the economic growth of Lithuania. Annual €350,000 support is split into three directions – Business (financial support and mentoring to persons to come to start business in Lithuania), Knowledge (financial support to study at the world’s best universities) and Science (financial support to PHDs to come to teach and do research at Lithuanian universities).
