Friday, January 26th, Martynas Mazvydas Lithuanian National Library had guests, writer, journalist and philanthropist of the Lithuanian descent living in the US, president of the Kazickas Family Foundation Jurate Kazickas and her brothers Michael and John Kazickas. They were accompanied by foundations New York office director Neila Baumiliene.
Executive director prof. dr. Renaldas Gudauskas showed around the National library, introduced gusets to the renewed library's concept and work specifics.
Guests were inquiring about National library's cultural expression forms, its role in Lithuania's culture and social life, projects it's been involved in.
During the meeting documentary heritage research department director Jolanta Budriuniene and Adolfas Damusis Democracy Center director Vidmantas Valiusaitis talked about the conference "Adolfas Damusis Political Days Studies" planned for June 15-16th, shared that issue regarding Lithuanian diaspora's contribution to Lithuania's freedom case during the XX century will be discussed during it.
The Kazickas Family Foundation was established in 1998 in New York and in 1999 in Lithuania. Its founder - citizen of Lithuania and USA, honorary citizen of Pasvalys, Kaunas Technology University honorary doctor, professor of economics at Yale University, entrepreneur and philanthropist dr. Joseph Kazickas. The foundation's main focus today is on education and social issues in Lithuania and USA.
Collaboration between the Kazickas Family Foundation and M. Mazvydas Lithuanian National library, future projects and opportunities were discussed during the meeting.
