The Kazickas Family members: Jurate Kazickas her husband Roger Altman, John Kazickas and his wife Marceil Kazickas participated in the official unveiling ceremony of the bas-reliefs by V. K. Jonynas at the Lithuanian World Center.
The occasion marked the official unveiling of the renovated conference room, now adorned with the exquisite bas-reliefs "Shepherd" and "Sower" by V. K. Jonynas. These artworks were donated in loving memory of Alexandra and Dr. Juozas Kazickas. The guests were deeply moved by the beauty of these restored works, which now grace the walls of the room.
Beyond its artistic significance, the conference room holds a rich historical value. It served as the headquarters for the Lithuanian Hotline after Lithuania declared its independence on March 11, 1990. The Hotline worked tirelessly to secure official recognition of Lithuania's independence from the United States government. The conference room was also home to Lithuanian Mercy Lift, which worked to send medicine and other medical supplies to Lithuania for a decade after it declared independence.
Rasa Statulevičienė, Marketing Manager at the Lithuanian World Center, presented plans for the room's future use, and art historian Viktorija Kašubaitė Matranga spoke about the artistic contributions of members of the Lithuanian diaspora, including V. K. Jonynas. In the near future, the Center plans to offer opportunities for the public to explore the historical significance of this room, view the bas-reliefs, and learn more about their creator, V. K. Jonynas.
