After sixteen years of construction and development work, while celebrating the Statehood Day on July 6th, the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania celebrated its end of reconstruction and official opening. On this occasion two exhibitions opened at the Palace: THE SAXON ELECTORS - THE GRAND DUKES OF LITHUANIA and FLORENCE FROM THE RENAISSANCE TO THE BAROQUE
- THE SAXON ELECTORS – THE GRAND DUKES OF LITHUANIA: Court Culture and Art under the Reign of Augustus II and Augustus III. Exhibition of the Dresden State Art Collections will be on display July 6 - October 14, 2018.
- FLORENCE FROM THE RENAISSANCE TO THE BAROQUE. Paintings from the Art Collections of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze and the Banca CR Firenze will be on display July 6 - October 7, 2018.
Vilnius lower castle palace that was destroyed approximately 200 years ago, was restored on top of the remains discovered in 1987-2001. That is a part of the Vilnius castle complex - the Palace of the Grand Dukes that stood between the Cathedral and the Castle Hill. Palace consists of four buildings with enclosed courtyard.
Dr. Joseph Kazickas was among the main initiators, supporters and most generous donors to rebuild the Palace of the Grand Dukes in 2000. From 2000 until 2008, the Kazickas Family Foundation donated almost $1 mln for the cause.
