During a working lunch on The Power of Basketball program Stage 2 (October 2015 – June 2016) for Lithuania, five Kazickas Family members met with Marty Conlon (formerly of NBA Cares, currently of the Avenues) who helped launch the program, and John Holm of CAF America. A plan to reach 600 most vulnarable children (from orphanages and high risk families) in rural areas of Lithuania was discussed.
Program that provides children with once a week free basketball practice and specialized talks, will add a community service element in order to allow different community groups to work together. Later in the afternoon, John Holm spoke at the UN Side Event "Addressing Implementation: Translating SDGs Into National Development Agenda" in Ford Foundation Headquarters. Mr. Holm mentioned the KFF program “The Power of Basketball” as an initiative working on U.N. SDG Goal # 3: “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.
