To start the week, Peter Kazickas & the Uncommon Team announced with excitement that they now have enough Monthly Donors to launch a new Innovation Hub in Zimbabwe!
People from all over the world - in places like Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Luxembourg, South Africa, Taiwan, the United States, United Kingdom and Zimbabwe have all chipped in $5, $25, $50 and even $100 / month to support the Uncommon students in Zimbabwe.
"And to make things even more exciting, thanks to some generous families and foundations that support our overhead costs, 100% of your Monthly Donation will be used to teach coding to kids and train unemployed young adults for the tech workforce," shared Peter. "This time last year, when COVID-19 was just beginning to turn the world upside down, we found ourselves in a precarious position," he continued. "Without being able to host any in-person fundraising events, the future of Uncommon was very uncertain. Our idea was to appeal to the community of friends, family and supporters from around the world that had encouraged and inspired us all this time. Despite having zero recurring donors, we launched a campaign to build a support base that would power us through the tough times, and propel us forward when things began to normalize. It's just incredible to see what a community of amazing people can do together! This year, 20 unemployed young adults will be trained for the tech workforce and 1,000+ school children will get their first ever coding lessons, thanks to you."
