At the beginning of each year, MO Museum in Vilnius, Lithuania invites its patrons to the annual reception. This year, when entire world functions under such unique circumstances, MO invited the patrons to join them on January 27th virtually. Jurate Kazickas took this special opportunity and participated from thousands of miles away. The Kazickas Family Foundation contributes to the educational workshops MO Museum offers to underprivileged youth.
Museum founders, Danguole and Viktoras Butkus, welcomed everyone to the virtual reception, while museum director Milda Ivanauskiene and head of development Mindaugas Morkunas shared the accomplishments and challenges of 2020 and plans for 2021.
Even though last year was so unpredictable, it delivered some wonderful surprises to MO. More than 100,000 guests visited the museum in-person and the number of virtual visitors (286,000) exceeded all the expectations. Approximately 15,000 adults and 4,000 children participated in the museum's educational workshops. MO also took its exhibitions outdoors during the pandemic, provoking lively discussions and promoting creativity.
Few exhibitions are already planned for 2021, including an interactive exhibit for children "Lake Full of Stars". It will engage young visitors in the creative process, develop their creativity, and inspire to question the importance and impact of the relationship between a person and nature.
MO successfully continues its mission to bring art to as many people as possible by explore all the opportunities and adapting to unpredictable circumstances. In addition to the exhibitions planned in a Large and Small MO Halls, outdoor space, in-person and virtual educational workshops for children and adults, MO also has travelling museum bringing educational activities to more remote communities of Lithuania.
MO is so much more than a museum. It is openness where art can be accessible to everyone.
