Trade School "Sodziaus meistrai" in Trakai, supported by KFF, provides youth with an alternative to your traditional, academic education by teaching crafts and trades to around 70 learners, including, for example, carpentry, cooking, and landscaping. Peter and Annalinai Kazickas had an opportunity to visit it during their visit to Lithuania.
Many of the pieces created by the youth are then utilized in the facilities. Annalina and Peter especially loved seeing how the construction of the School’s new building, which will house rooms for boarders, event space, and an indoor gymnasium, was coming along. Afterwards, they visited a St. John’s Foster home – while foster care is not that popular in Lithuania, it was clear that the children here are well taken care of and are provided opportunities that would otherwise not be offered.
