The second week of We Connect Lithuania program for Lithuanian diaspora youth is dedicated for Statehood. We Connect Lithuania and LISS program participants had an exclusive chance to visit the National museum - Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.
We Connect Lithuania thanks to the Valdovų Rūmai and The Kazickas Family Foundation for this opportunity. The reconstruction of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania is one of the most important projects of Lithuania’s Millennium program. This reconstructed historical residence in the heart of Lithuania’s capital should once again become the traditional symbol of Lithuania’s longlived statehood and an object of national pride.
Dr. Joseph Kazickas was among the main supporters and most generous donors to rebuild the Palace of the Grand Dukes in 2000. Dr. Kazickas wanted to promote the idea of the reconstruction of the Palace and to attract as many investors as possible. The KFF established prizes for journalists promoting the idea, as well as for those who worked hardest so the Palace became a reality.
From 2000 until 2008, the Kazickas Family Foundation donated almost $1 mln for the cause.
